Kitties are multiplying!

I decided to make some cats that face the left and some that face the right.

Here's how they look around the middle block.

Round Robin 2

I posted about this second round robin from 2017.  I got kind of stumped on what to do. And then I saw this small cat blocks, and decided to use those to make a border for my round robin.

As I cut up fabric, for projects, I also cut up fabric for my leader/enders (bow tie & spools), but also for this (and a few other sizes for other quilt ideas I have).

Another new quilt?!

I need another new quilt like I need a hole in my head.  But I have a nephew who never got a quilt.

I originally laid this design out.  I like it, but because of the variety of colors, it didn't seem like it would work for a little boy.

So I had thought about just using one color and neutral.  I like it a lot more.  Although I already have a few blocks of the other done, so I will probably end up making that a quilt sometime ;)

This block is called quartered star.

Sewing room refresh

My friend Christine came for a visit.  And she is allergic to cats.  So before she comes I generally try to clean up my sewing room.  After she left I decided that I wanted to completely rearrange my sewing space.  So my husband & I took almost everything out of the room and put it in the hallway.  Then we moved stuff around to try to find a space that would work.  I have a big room, but I have a lot of stuff (shelves and such) and I wanted to be able to get to my design wall.

Now I can access the full design wall!

My space is a big U, which it had been a U before, but not as large.  I feel like I can access everything from where I sit.

And of course I still have Scott's chair so he can keep me company ;)

When I brought things back into my sewing room, I found them a home, I didn't just put them in random spaces, I want to be more organized so I can spend more time sewing!

Pink & Purples quilt 4

I think I decided to do this layout for the pinks & purples quilt. I have started sewing the blocks into rows!

Now I need to start thinking about if I want a border and what I want on the back!

Baby kitties

No not real kitties!

These little guys finish at 5"! I am using them as a border for a round robin!

Spools

I wanted to see how my spool blocks were coming, so I put them up on my design wall.  I chose to put them up by color, and I think when I am finished, I might end up doing it like that too (not necessarily this order but by color).

I have 163 little spool blocks done.  Quite a ways to go! But it's a marathon not a sprint ;)

Bow ties 2 (teal)

Here are my teal bow ties!

I currently have 20.

Bow ties 2 (Teal)

I LOVE my bowtie quilt.  I love how it looks, I love the colors, I love the memories I have with it.  I really wanted to make a second one, but I wasn't sure how I could justify it.

Well my friend Christine loved my bow tie quilt.  So I suggested she save me fabric from quilts she is working on, and I would make her a bow tie quilt, it's win-win! She gets a quilt and I get to make another bow tie quilt ;)

Here is what I have started so far.  I am kind of working on this as a leader ender with my featherweight, and my spools as a leader ender on my 99k.

Earbud pouch

This is an earbud pouch.

I found dogundermydesk a few years ago via twitter.  I have loved seeing all her patterns.  I haven't make any yet, mainly because quilting is easier with my leader enders.

But I decided to try her earbud pouch.  a) they were super easy to whip up! I made the first one (the red one) in less than 45 minutes (including the cutting time).  And then the bottom two I finished in less than 45 minutes.  I spent a lot of time cutting more out last night!

I like these because they don't use a lot of fabric, and I can use my batting scraps! (It helps saving everything ;) )

Scrappy Trips 1

I have had some scrappy trips blocks for YEARS! I had joined a few swaps, so I have a lot of variety in my blocks.

I had originally thought about making the quilt 6x8 blocks, but after getting half of it done, I decided 4x6 is actually still a good size!

So I have enough blocks to make a second quilt!

Cats on Quilts

Well Earl sure loves my new quilt! After I got it washed and put it on the chair in my sewing room he promptly took over :)

Both Minnie & Earl love my bowtie quilt!

Pink & Purples Quilt 3

Here is an updated version of my pinks & purples quilt.  I am not sure how I am going to lay it out, I am not sure how I feel about this lay out.

This is also my make shift design wall since I am at my friends house :)

Sewing birthday!!

I am visiting a friend for my birthday.  And we are sewing our time away!!!

Nothing much better than ice cream cake and sewing ;)

Finished Weighted blanket

Here is the finished weighted blanket!

I did mine a little differently than some of the patterns I have seen online.  I used my long arm to make the long channels.  Then my sewing machine to do the cross lines to close each square.  I did 5" spaces, I think if I were to make another one, I would use 6" spaces.

I also triple stitched around the outside, and added binding.  My mother in law definitely has a one of a kind weighted blanket!

Pink & Purple squares 2

Here is the quilt laid out with the pink & purple squares.  I think I am going to add another color to it.  But it will be a pink or purple shade.

I now need to decide how I will lay them out.  I might end up having to add a fourth color just to make sure they are spaced out enough!

National Quilting day

I definitely did not have time to post on National Quilting day (March 16th) but I made sure I did some sewing :)

I rearranged a little since I last shared my sewing space

I cleared off some things from where I cut/iron to make more room for big things.

I moved the drawers over here, it will take some getting used to, having them in a different spot, but it's definitely been easier to iron with more space.

Pink & Purple squares

I have been trying to use up my 2.5" squares again.  I found this pattern online.  So I thought I would try it out.  I plan on adding pink to it (hence the name).

weighted blanket

My mother in law wanted a weighted blanket, but they are expensive, I told her I would make her one!  So here is about half the rows done.

the kitties of course had to help!

Earl was NOT helping, this is heavy to move through my machine!  I am getting a workout sewing it!

11 March 2019

Spools

There are 11 x 13, so 143 blocks. It's getting bigger.  I did the math for my bow ties quilt (which are the same size) I had almost 700 blocks.  So definitely a ways to go!

Quilting blue quilt

I have started quilting the baby blue quilt.  I tried to get a picture of it, but I am not sure if it's the lighting or the color of the thread, but it's kind of hard to see.  In the white I was doing lines going left and right, and in the blue up and down.

Here you can see the lines a little more.  I am sure enjoying having the long arm.  It just needs to warm up a little bit.  I can't finish something because my fingers get too cold.

I am excited that Gutermann thread works on my long arm.  I don't have money to spend on brand new thread, but I have quite the collection of Gutermann thread.

Baby blue Quilt

One of my husband's friends recently had a baby.  He asked if I could make a quilt.  I said sure, if you pick out the pattern, the fabric and help. Scott & his friend actually picked out the fabric together.

Scott picked the design.  And also put it up on the design wall.

Scott had to help me take them down (it's at the top of the design wall, which is 8' tall! there is no way for me to get it down without a step stool!)

Here is a close up of some of the fabrics.

Dino mini

Here is the finished Dino mini for the birthday swap I was in.  I really wanted to do the T-rex in dino fabric, but I like how these colors turned out.

This was a paper pieced pattern.  But I got it on craftsy, and since they have had all their issues, I cannot link to it.

Dog Quilt finished

Here is the quilt, quilted and bound!

Here is one of my friends puppys' on it!

And here is the back.  I LOVED the back fabric, but didn't have enough to finish the whole thing, so I added some red :) And you can see the label I added at the bottom.

Kitties quilting

I have been having a lot of help quilting lately! Here is Minnie keeping the chair warm.

Earl usually lays in the box near the window (which I have a towel in for the kitties).  the other day he was going crazy trying to get all the leaves blowing around.

Mochi isn't not much help, sitting right where I need to work!

And here are all three! Not doing much to help ;)
